Amart Furniture is excited to partner with stylist Jackie Brown to bring you the latest looks for your home with the Smart Styling series. In the February edition, Jackie demonstrates how you can create a functional industrial-style office space. On this page you’ll find the products Jackie used to create the stunning look you see above.
Keen to create an industrial-style office of your own? Start your industrial office with a desk and shelving, then build the look with a chair you love, extra storage, and the all-important desk light. Jackie says the key to the industrial look is furniture pieces that are utilitarian and hardwearing. Don’t forget they should also be a bit factory-style, with a vintage vibe. The industrial style is perfect in your home office as its practical, functional, and simple, making it conducive to an organised workflow.
Metal and timber are the go-to materials for the industrial look, and should feature an aged and rustic finish. Colour-wise, Jackie suggests either simple and monochromatic, or bright with a pop of colour in a feature item like a chair or storage unit. Complement the industrial look perfectly with an exposed brick wall (wallpaper is a great cheat).
For decorating the industrial office, Jackie recommends crates, plants, globes, and all sorts of vintage wares with an aged patina, and a bit of charm.
Jackie’s top picks for creating an industrial-style office on a budget:
- Scour second-hand shops, online auction sites, and the roadside during council pickups for vintage finds.
- Use items from around the house – such as old jars, cans, and pots – to store pens and trinkets.
- Store magazines, paperwork, and bulk items in old crates.
